Navigation Systems

Global navigation satellite systems (thereinafter GNSS) have impact on all areas of human activities. In the recent years using specific space-time information concerning the objects and features on the Earth ground and in its neighbourhood has constantly more important impact. Application of GNSS technologies begins to have a strategic importance for the economic and social society development.

VUS activities in GNSS area are focused on:

Continuous monitoring of developmental and implementation aspects of the European and the world satellite navigation systems (Galileo, EGNOS; GPS-NAVSTAR, GLONASS, Beidou);
Analyses of executed projects in GNSS area and proposals on using global navigation technologies in Slovak Republic;
Preparation of opinions and information support for co-operating organizations;
Knowledge database and GNSS specific terminology completion.

Selected Projects

Global navigation satellite systems

Annotation: Project was focused on a complex support of the navigation satellite system implementation in Slovakia following the analyses of relevant information from GNSS theory and practice in Europe and in the world. The project was aimed at proposal of the form of co-operation of involved SR institutions along with defining the unified concept of GNSS technology introduction and exploitation.

Implementation of the global navigation satellite system technologies in the Slovak Republic

Annotation: Evaluation of GNSS application possibilities, analysis of SR attendance in the relevant projects of EU framework programmes and designs of possible procedure during preparation a draft of the Slovak national cosmic agenda.

Global navigation satellite systems and their applications in SR

Annotation: Project, produced in co-operation with CEDA Prague and VUD Žilina, contains an analysis of the current state of introduction and using navigation satellite systems in the world and in Europe taking account the transport area. The procedure proposal allowing LBS services development is also a part of the project.
