Radio equipment and telecommunications terminal equipment
Directive 1995/5/EC (Governmental Order No 443/2001 Coll.) on radio equipment and telecommunications equipment (R&TTE) provides more options for manufacturers in conformity assessment process depending on the type of equipment to be placed on the market, technical standards used, as well as subjective considerations of the manufacturer, his authorised representative or other person responsible for placing the product on the Community market. Conformity assessment procedures to be followed are described in Annexes II to V of the R&TTE Directive, or Governmental Order No 443/2001 Coll.
In the first of the two mentioned cases the task of the Notified Body consists in the identification of test suites that are considered to be essential in relation to the effective use of the radio spectrum. In the second case, when the harmonised standards have not been applied, a technical construction file in the extent specified in the Directive must be presented to the Notified Body, and the Notified Body shall review the file and issue an opinion on the fulfilment of the Directive requirements.
On the other side, according to provisions of the Directive, it is left at the discretion of the person responsible for the conformity assessment, to involve on a voluntary basis a Notified Body into the conformity assessment process in all cases, without regard to the application of harmonised standards and/or other circumstances.
