Electromagnetic compatibility

Directive 2004/108/EC (Governmental Order No 194/2005 Coll.) on electromagnetic compatibility applies to all equipment (apparatus or fixed installations) that are liable to generate electromagnetic disturbance, or the performance of which is liable to be affected by such disturbance.

In terms of legal regulations mentioned above the manufacturer is required, before placing an apparatus on the market, to perform an electromagnetic compatibility assessment of apparatus in relation to all relevant electromagnetic phenomena, with the aim to meet the protection requirements with respect to electromagnetic disturbance. When the manufacturer wishes to achieve a higher degree of certainty that the assessment will be performed correctly, he may present relevant documentation to the Notified Body with the request for an assessment thereof. If the compliance of the apparatus is confirmed, the Notified Body shall issue a statement to the manufacturer or his authorised representative in the Community, confirming the compliance of the apparatus. Then the manufacturer adds the statement of the Notified Body to the technical documentation that has to be kept at the disposal of the surveillance authorities for checking purposes for a period of at least ten years after the date on which such apparatus was last manufactured.

Research Institute of Posts and Telecommunications has been authorised by the Slovak Office of Standards, Metrology and Testing to perform Notified Body’s activities under EMC Directive. Its qualified experts possessing many years of experience in the field of high-frequency engineering and electromagnetic compatibility, guarantee a high quality and professionalism in the assessment of all aspects of the electromagnetic compatibility for wide range of equipment and apparatus covered by the EMC Directive.
