The Research Institute of Posts and Telecommunications (VUS), non-profit organization, is the leading R&D centre for electronic communications and postal services in Slovakia. VUS deals with R&D projects in selected areas of telecommunications, information society and transport telematics. Its wide scope of activities covers also technical standardization, testing and metrology, as well as other scientific and technical services focused on conformity assessment, frequency planning, statistical surveys, consultancy services and many other issues.

VUS is the leading research institution, which works for public authorities in the field of electronic communications. The results of R&D projects performed by VUS for the Ministry of Transport, Construction and Regional Development of the Slovak Republic provide an important contribution to the preparation of legislative arrangements, enhancement of policymaking process and its implementation in Slovakia. In addition to the tasks for the Ministry, VÚS provides technical assistance for the Telecommunication Office of the Slovak Republic in dealing with different regulatory issues.

VUS is working on many customer-oriented projects for the wide range of telecom and postal market players. VUS offers metrological services, testing and special measurements for different subjects in its high-equipped and accredited laboratories. The main objective of VUS is to react promptly to rapid technical development and satisfy increasing needs of customers both in public and private sphere.
